Thanks for the suggestions.

I just need the proper frame rate conversion, no need for cropping or anything else. The final result will be a NTSC DVD.

Thanks again!

Okay, since the GitHub repository was created 3.5 months ago and the owner has released ZERO binaries thus far, here go two CLI .exes built from the "improved" source-code...
Notice, the "improved" source-code requires a POSIX-threaded compiler, so I had to download old packages from the MinGW-w64 project @ SourceForge and use them in my MSYS2 environment; no way I would screw my MSYS2 setup with the "toolchains" provided by the MSYS2 devilopers.
The 32-bit binary seems to be OK; the 64-bit .EXE requires the three DLLs included in the archive.
No GUI because I have no interest in downloading the terabyte-sized QT5 stuff.

My worries were and still are, the same.
The very low gain of real-world multi-thread performance between versions 0.2.1 vs 0.5.1 of dAV1d decoder, as measured by me using the above systems and tools, compared to the advertised and publicly reported by dAV1d team regarding SSSE3 and AVX2 optimizations.
All the other comments by me, express my agony to explain by any means that huge difference.
Your results confirm mine in an absolute way regarding Dua Lipa video, but there is a small light in the end of the tunnel regarding Chimera (regardless the name of the video)
I think @nevcairiel could explain better and test LAV filter's dAV1d implementation.

Apropos ... the input driver concept seems to be the reason why you can't use VirtualDub2 to e.g. remultiplex MKV to MP4 in Stream Copy mode, correct?

-downdpl is only recommended if your audio player is a 5.1 system with DPL decoder. To play in a audio stereo player (TV or standar amplifier) use always -downstereo

I don't believe "unexperienced" users should actually install LAV Filters themselves. They should just get MPC-HC or another player, which bundle everything they need, and players can also pre-configure it to how they see their user-base.

Maybe somebody has an idea what could be the reason for this error, it stems probably from cmd but the exit code is 0. I tried to reproduce it as good as I can (filename, vs script and x265 settings) and it's working for me.

For me, (at least) the convtab for "Star Wars Ep. 1 - The Phantom Menace" (1677D189ECCC2161451A3C0FA4F53CD4_THE_PHANTOM_MENACE.bin) doesn't fully work (picture errors starting from around ~0:30:00 playtime). I tried playing the disc with Leawo (where the tables seem to come from) and it yields the same error. Other discs from the Star Wars box (played episodes 4-6) work fine, so I believe the patched libbdplus is fine in this regard. Any info on this might help with other discs of course.

Thanks,

Yep; pretty much anything that doesn't support Dolby Vision, doesn't support normal x265 12bit encoded files either. My Panasonic UHD BD player from years ago doesn't support it either. (I'm still hoping in a software update, though). Anyway, it seems that we're slowly getting there... :)
